Old neighborhoods are now interwoven with the new. It seems that everyone is trying to convert their wooden house into a wall or brick structure. The Chattel houses are still in existence. How long will they last?

  1. Does Barbados have a Heritage Trust? I sure hope there's some entity working at preserving the "old". It's nice to see nice, shiny new buildings. They make the place look clean and modern.

    But there's just something about those old, faded buildings that makes you wonder, "Who lived there? What was their lives like?"

    I hope those old chattel houses will be there forever.

  2. Barbados Heritage Trust is called the Barbados National Trust. Matter-of-fact, I am going to become a member when I am there on vacation at the end of this month.

    They also run Hike Barbados which I try to get to when I am there. You can find locals and visitors alike traversing the country side.
