So you buy a costume for $300 (Barbados Dollars) and you are rearing to go. The stage awaits you, and the music is boiling inside you. You grab a drink and all things seem possible. That is the easy part.
But sometimes we forget the costumes designers and band leaders. They have to come up with some theme clever enough to grip the attention of the revelers and the viewers every year. I am sure it is hard work. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of costumes have to be made to accommodate the ever rising influx of people who want to just jump in a band. Young or old, it does not matter. The revelers want to look beautiful in their costumes. They want a whole lot of bang for their dollars.
So here is a big thank you to the designers and band leaders that keep the carnival moving every year in Barbados. Think of what Crop Over would be like without designers, band leaders and all the other folks that make it happen.
NOTE:
New images of Kadooment Day 2007 will be added from time to time as I edit and process them. So check back when time permits. Thanks.
