It goes without saying that I love this fortified building. This is the Central Police Station or to the locals the Main Guard. When this great building was erected I am not sure, but it has to be prior to 1832.

Henry Nelson Coleridge, an editor and avid lover of the letter of the law, once said "His Majesty’s Council, the General Assembly, the Judge, the juries, the debtors and the felons, all live together in the same house". In the past, the Law Courts, the jail, and the Legislature were all in this building.

The Legislature may not be there any more, but you can still tend Court, pick up a copy of your birth certificate or baptismal records, and criminals are still temporarily remanded there.
