Name the car and you are sure to find loads of them in Barbados. A Jaguar is no exception. These types of cars are very popular with lawyers, doctors, and politicians.

This cute Jag seems to be a 70s model with leather interior and wood (maybe mahogany) dash and wheel. But don’t let that fool you. This baby may be old and decrepit looking. And you might even say it holds court with junk. But, it is still a Jaguar.

Many folks love coconut water. But how many would venture to climb the tree to get it…not many I am sure. So looking at this tree laden with coconuts, I wonder who is going to risk going onto this vacant property and climb that tree. Well, not me. My climbing days are over.

But, it was not always that way. We had a coconut tree in the yard when we were kids. Matter of fact, we had two. My aunt and grandmother could not keep my cousin Tee Tee (because he loved tea) and I out of the trees. Imagine, 8 o’clock at night and we up in a coconut tree drinking what else, coconuts.

All this activity caught up with my cousin, he got stung by a bubble bee while climbing the coconut tree one day. His face was completely swollen. Oh, what a sight…

Summer vacations are full of highs. And then there are the low points. Those are the days where the weather sends the mind into recess. The camera then becomes a fun thing and shooting anything without reason rules. Trying to shoot something meaningful seems an impossible task.

So here goes nothing.

Watching this dove bathing on the rooftop brings back so many memories. The days of hunting them are long gone. And my slingshot (gutterperk) is all but lost somewhere in my belongings, never to be used again.

From time to time my grandmother still challenges me to see if I could still catch these wonderful birds. But, I will only shoot them with my camera now.
